TitleAn investigation in to the reasons why BAC data for road accident casualties is missing from the south australian traffic accident database
AuthorsKloeden CN, McLean AJ, Holubowycz OT
Year1993
TypeReport
AbstractReport for the Office of Road Safety, SA Department of Road Transport on the reasons why BAG data for some road accident casualties is missing from the SA Traffic Accident Database. A number of reasons were identified. They include a limitation in the computer matching procedure that is used to obtain BACs for drivers and riders by matching names from Forensic Science blood files with those on traffic accident report files. It was recommended that the hand-matching of unmatched records would largely overcome this problem. Other sources of missing casualty BAG data were identified and relevant recommendations made for changes in procedures, reporting and legislation. It was concluded that the problem would largely be eliminated if the recommendations were carried out.
