The study was based on two centres where learner's permits were issued, Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur, and on two other centres, Singapore and Suita, where off-road rider training to the stage of full licensure was compulsory. The differences in motorcyclist licensing procedures between the above jurisdictions indicated that a comparative study could be used to test the following hypothesis: "Off-road rider training during the learner period, with no on-road exposure until the full licence is awarded, will result in a lower risk of injury to a motorcyclist during the first 12 months of on-road riding. | Publisher | Macmillan India Limited | Publisher City | New Delhi | ISBN | 0333926943 | Conference Name | International Conference on Traffic Safety - The vulnerable road user | Conference Abbreviation | ICOTS '91 | Conference Location | New Delhi, India | Conference Date | 27-30 January 1991 | Page Range | 213-216 | Page Count | 4 | Notes | available from CASR library on request |
