No doubt this book is familiar to all of us, on every traumatologist's coffee table, but I want to remind you that the philosophic authors postulated five strategies to meet this global challenge. These strategies are complementary, but their implementation requires different skills. Reducing traffic exposure and preventing traffic crashes require especially skills in civil engineering and in car design. Behaviour modification is especially the field of psychology and law enforcement. Post-injury management is the medical field: the concern of surgeons, intensivists and ambulance officers. The fourth strategy, injury control, relates to making road crashes survivable.
