AbstractAdvanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) comprise various innovative vehicle technologies that have great potential to reduce fatalities and serious injuries. The effectiveness of some ADAS is reliant on features of the road network such as line markings and signage to enable proper functioning of technologies like lane departure warning or intelligent speed adaptation. This project involved driving an instrumented vehicle along major roads within the ACT to assess and record the compatibility of the road infrastructure with ADAS. The data collection occurred over five days with over 1,349 km of roadway being assessed and 1,963 speed limit signs being detected. Using this data, high-resolution maps were generated that show how well ADAS is able to interpret the infrastructure across the ACT road network. Overall, it was found that ADAS is likely to operate effectively across the majority of the roads that were assessed.
