It is shown that cars having a conventional frontal shape have a different injury potential from cars having a sloping front, e.g., Volkswagen. The directions of impact forces arc relatecl to the sites and patterns of fracture of the ribs, pelvis, femur. It is shown how the shapes of fractures of the shaft of the tibia can be used to determine the orientation of the pedestrian relative to the car at the time of impact. | Publisher | Wayne State University Press | Publisher City | Detroit | Conference Name | Ninth STAPP car crash conference | Conference Abbreviation | STAPP | Conference Location | Minneapolis, USA | Conference Date | 20-21 October 1965 | Page Range | 321-332 | Page Count | 13 |
