TitleTransverse line marking trial undertaken in the Adelaide Hills [extended abstract]
AuthorsStokes CS, Woolley JE
Year2017
TypeConference Paper
AbstractTransverse line marking has been used previously to reduce approach speeds before hazardous intersections. This treatment was selected for use at one approach leg of a hazardous intersection in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. Speed measurements were taken over two-week periods before and after implementation of the treatment in July 2015, and again in 2016. Results of the speed measurements showed 85th percentile speed reductions of up to 2.0 km/h. These speed reductions were greatest both 50m before and 50m after the intersection in the travelled direction of the transverse line markings.
